Dean Morley

    A graduate of Sydney University’s Agriculture Economics program, Dean has lived and breathed the Thoroughbred Racing & Breeding industry throughout his whole career.

    From 2010 until 2016, Dean worked for Sky Racing in various positions with his final role being Senior Production Director, which allowed him to combine his love of thoroughbred racing with his sports media skills. Before starting with HQ, Dean experienced life at the world’s largest corporate bookmaker, bet365, including a stint in the UK.

    Dean manages the team of HQ account executives through the busy sales and breeding seasons at the same time as being the contact for HQ’s underwriters and insurers. Dean’s role also has him responsible for initiation, development and execution of new business opportunities and alternate revenue streams whilst overseeing the claims, marketing, finance & banking departments.

    Dean is yet to own that elusive Group One winner but hopes the W.S Cox Plate sits on his desk one day in the future.

    Gayle White

    Having been employed in the Thoroughbred Industry for over 25 years, Gayle has an extensive depth of knowledge of all aspects of the industry. Following a number of years of yearling prep during her holidays whilst still at school and university, Gayle was offered opportunities that took her overseas, culminating in four years at Coolmore in Ireland. This hands-on experience gives Gayle a sound knowledge of the array of issues that bloodstock insurance entails and stands her in good stead to oversee the claims authority.

    When Coolmore set up in Jerry’s Plains, NSW, Gayle was asked to join the administration team where she became an integral part of the operation. Prior to that, Gayle had been a key member of the New Zealand Bloodstock insurance group.

    Gayle specialises in tailoring packages to suit client’s requirements and prides herself on superior customer service.

    Vaunie Aldridge


    B. Com (ANU) / Post-Graduate Diploma Marketing And Advertising Communications (Red & Yellow School of Business) / ASIC Tier 1 (Insurance Broking)

    Vaunie completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) at ANU before undertaking a Post-Graduate Diploma Marketing And Advertising Communications in South Africa.

    She joins HQ with a strong account management background, drawing on experience from roles in the fast-paced marketing, media and sport sponsorship sectors. As Claims Manager, Vaunie is your main point of contact for Claims and Injury/Illness advices.

    Having grown up around the thoroughbred industry, Vaunie is excited to further her professional career in the bloodstock insurance field.

    Rory Hedley-Gardner


    ASIC Tier 1 (Insurance Broking)

    Based on the Gold Coast, Rory began her thoroughbred journey with Magic Millions Sales in the Finance department as the Accounts Assistant before moving into the Accounts Payable roll. It is in this role that she quickly found a love for the racing & breeding industry.

    Rory took some time off to focus on her family and in 2021 returned to full-time employment as part of the HQ Insurance team and given her location, will be found at all Magic Millions Sales on the Gold Coast.

    Wendy Cubitt


    ASIC Tier 2 (Insurance Broking)

    Wendy spent 28 years working for Magic Millions Sales and is well known in the industry for her role managing the MM Adelaide office. A much-loved member of the South Australian breeding and racing industry, Wendy decided the time was right to make the move into insurance and hopes to be the face of bloodstock insurance in the Southern states of Australia.

    Megan Kelso

    Megan spent the better part of a decade working for Gow Gates Insurance plus a stint at Equine International Air freight before joining HQ as an account manager. Megan brings experience in bloodstock, sales and account management to HQ which are rare traits in this niche part of the bloodstock industry.

    Maggie Johnston


    Diploma Equine Business Management (Marcus Oldham)

    Born and raised on a large sheep farm in Western Australia, Maggie has been brought up with and owned horses all her life competing in a wide range of equestrian disciplines including eventing, showjumping, dressage, mounted games and showhorse. Maggie has a strong understanding of the equestrian and sporthorse industries and the people involved in it. After completing a diploma in Equine Business Management in 2018, Maggie moved to Alberta, Canada to work for one of North America’s leading cutting horse trainers in 2019/20.

    Before working at HQ, Maggie worked at Kick Collective and The Thoroughbred Report, gaining valuable marketing experience and thoroughbred industry knowledge and contacts. She has a deep passion for horses and both the sporthorse and thoroughbred industries. Maggie is currently in her final year of studying the Bachelor of Business (Marketing Applied) course at RMIT and is very excited to be looking after the sporthorse clients and HQ Insurance Marketing.

    Oscar Field

    Born and raised in the horse capital of Australia, Scone. The horse industry was ingrained in Oscar from an early age. You will hear people say that ‘you catch the horse or racing bug” and Oscar is another who can attest to this, having been around horses be it at Inglis and Magic Millions sales with his father, or frequenting the track on raceday during all the big Spring and Autumn Carnivals. The association and love affair of the animal was also acquired from time spent working at Arrowfield Stud in the Hunter Valley.

    Oscar is the immediate point of contact for landline enquiries with his friendly and helpful manner perfect in assisting clients with any account needs. Oscar is also one of our key sign-up staff helping to sign-up buyers at the Magic Millions Yearling, Weanling and Broodmare Sales.

    A highly respected expert in the insurance industry, Ray was CEO and shareholder of Wilburtins, and later Wilburtins McDonald, before he became an Authorised Representative of Austbrokers ABS. Now one of HQ’s Authorised Representatives, Ray brings to Team HQ exceptional knowledge, industry experience and an unsurpassed reputation.
    Ray served for 12 years as a Board member with the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA). Besides his insurance career, Ray’s passion in life is breeding and racing horses. He has been actively involved in the thoroughbred industry since 1979 and in 1992 set up Rheinwood Pastoral Company, which remains his thoroughbred stud based in the Southern Highlands of NSW.

    Professor Andrew DartProfessor Andrew Dart


    BVSc, DVCS, Dip ACBVS, Dip ECVS, Registered Equine Surgical Specialist.

    After graduating from the University of Queensland in 1984, Professor Dart spent several years in private equine practice before undertaking training in large animal surgery at the University of California. He returned to private practice in Australia in 1993 and has been a registered specialist in Equine Surgery for the past 14 years.

    Apart from his interest in Equine surgery, he has a wealth of experience in medicine and surgery of Alpacas. Andrew has over 90 publications in international veterinary journals and is a regular speaker at national and international conferences. He sits on a number of veterinary committees involved in the examination and registration of overseas veterinarians.

    Andrew has been providing professional assistance on insurance related matters for over 10 years.
